Alternative Energy – Helping Out in Times of Energy Crisis

How important are the alternative energy sources? People most commonly get the energy to power many types of equipments and things through the kinds which can be acquired on natural resources. And what are these? What will first come to mind when subjected to such question will be the likes of petroleum, electricity and coal.

But with the increase of the industries that rely a lot in the consummation of energy resources, the negative effects in nature is also on the rise. There is also the truth that many factories emit harmful chemicals that can be bad to nature. There are also many facilities and gadgets that require a lot of energy resource to be consumed. Plus the fact remains that there is a continuing rise of people’s population all over the globe. With these situations, there are pros and cons that happen in the process. And here are some of the harmful effects that such can be caused by the advent.

1. High technologies are on the rise. But these cause negative outcome to nature. Not everything that is new and advance can cause positive effects to the surroundings. And these add to the factors that utilize available energy causing the latter to diminish faster.

2. People find new ways to use old resources in new and innovative ways. But sometimes, people overlook the harmful effects that such activities can cause the environment. If this is the case, there will come a time that even the alternative sources of energy will not be able to provide what is expected from them.

3. There are environmental agencies that have done surveys with regards to energy consumption. It found out that with the current trend in the consumption of petroleum products, four decades from now, all the reserves for such products will run out if the trend will not change.

4. People have become too dependent in using natural energy resources. If time will come that there will be little or no more left of these resources, a lot of people’s activities and businesses will cease to exist. Transportation will stop. Trade will be affected. Communications will be stopped. Factories and other kinds of manufacturing businesses will stop from operating. Growth will be hindered as well as success.

To stop such negative outcome or slow down the timeline so that it won’t come about in the near future, people must do their part to be able to conserve the available resources. They must use their geniuses to find new ways and techniques to turn alternative resources into the kind of energy that can substitute the diminishing ones.

1. People must be serious about energy conservation. They must do everything in their capacity to save their use of the available energy resources. For example, if they can do without cars or riding on public transportation, or if you can just walk, then you better do that. Even if this is only a small step, this can be a big leap towards better results in conserving energy.

2. People must be responsible on whatever they do when it concerns the environment. You must remember that nature gives you a lot that you owe it as well.

Overall, it is people’s duty to look for alternative energy source to help us on our daily lives. We must also aim to alleviate the negative effects that these may cause to humanity and the environment.

Frugality and the No Fret Family Budget

For many of us, the idea of a budget is often a difficult subject. It is frustrating to see how hard it can be to do a budget and the realization that with one wrong purchase, you can actually ruin the entire process. And this has been a perennial headache for most homemakers.

It is about time to overhaul the way people look at there budgeting using frugality as an aide in this progress.  It can actually be a great way to keep track of your family’s expenditures and help you evaluate the things that you spend the lion’s share of the family’s earnings on.

What is a budget?  A budget is a tool for handling your finances by controlling the family’s expenditures in a way that money is enough for paying up bills, and still ensuring that savings are set aside for future expenses - vacations, or children’s education, or even for retirement.

Try these simple steps in preparing a no fret family budget, and see the benefits of using frugality in your approach to spending.

1.  Get together three months pay stubs and calculate your average monthly earnings.

2.  Try and collect three months of your monthly bills.  Do this for the fixed expenses like the rent, phone bill, car payments and other loans that come monthly. Add them up and get the average. Do the same for other expenses like groceries, and credit card bills.

3.  Evaluate the results of your computations.  Looking at your average monthly earnings against your monthly fixed expenses and other monthly expenses, think of some ways to economize.  Cut back on some items that you feel could be unnecessary.

4.  Knowing the facts of your income and expenses is the only way to get them under control, develop a family budget and try to stick to this monthly budget.

5.  Now that you have a monthly budget, set up a savings account.  Save up by making regular deposits to this account.

6.  Keep track of this monthly family budget just to see if it is working for you.  Try to fine-tune the “rough edges” of this budget as you go along.

7.  If you can get hold of a personal budgeting software or spreadsheet application to keep record of your budget, the better.  This will make organizing your expenses very easy.

These are the basic steps in developing and implementing a frugal, easy to stick to monthly family budget. Of course each family has diverse needs and wants.  You have the freedom to develop your own monthly family budget, depending on your family’s financial background and needs.  No matter how you do it, just focus on the end result, which is building a savings that leads to a bright and financially stable future for you and your family.

Shop and Save and be frugal

You have long known the credit card. It is said to be your ultimate gear when you go shopping. The plastic can even be a best friend to a frugal shopper.

Considering the times nowadays, this plastic seems to be the least practical option out there. It is actually the most convenient tool used for consumption when you are out of cash. It lures you to spend.

Is there anyway for your credit card to be useful for your saving endeavors?

Yes, actually there are ways that the plastic can be helpful. You CAN actually save money with that credit card.

0% Balance Transfers

If your present credit card has high interests, you can transfer your balance to one with a low-interest or no-interest at all. It can offer you a 0% interest for a certain period and then a lower regular rate later on. A 19% interest rate can be transferred to one with 16.1%. The 2.9% difference means a lot, especially in the long run.

Lower Interest Rates

Look for one with the lowest rate among others to further maximize having a credit card. This definitely spells savings. If you do not have a balance yet, it is best to look for a card without annual fees.

Take extra precautions, too, in assuming that the lowest interest rate is the best for you. Factor in your buying habits. You may be attracted to the low rates, but the end result may not be desirable if combined with the annual fees and the like.

Rewards Program

Reward points system and cash back programs are offered now. This can save you money. Maintaining a low balance despite your frequent buys will give you at most 5% off on purchases.

There are even cash rebates up to 5% when you use the credit card at certain gas stations, convenience stores and groceries. This can be automatically applied to your bill, the more you can feel the savings you are making.

Maximizing the Experience

To reap the rewards, you must avoid the drawbacks. A prudent person will definitely look for the best deals and grab it right away but with some caution.

Thus it is necessary that you read the details. Check the fees that may be charged and the penalty rates in case you delay. This may be the downside of the deal offered to you. For example, be careful of cash advance features of credit cards. Some of them can be very expensive. They can come with numerous fees and higher rates.

Be wary! Spending cannot be avoided at times. Just don’t forget your goal, getting the best deal you can for your money.

Darkness Ahead, The Quest For Sustainable Power

A looming danger is ahead, darkness everywhere, no electricity, no oil. What happens to us when oil runs out? Can you imagine nothing to fuel our cars, airplanes, tractors, a decline in farming, a decline in food production? The future seems gloom, everybody’s predicting that humanity itself will fall into decline. The richer countries siphoning of crops from third world countries to create bio-fuel; the third world countries slowly fading in hunger. We need to find sustainable power and we need it fast; our very existence depends upon it.

Solar Power

When we think of alternative energy resources, solar power immediately comes to mind. Evidently when we talk of solar power, we speak of harnessing the suns god given energy. This solar energy is transformed into electric current with the use of photovoltaics, concentrating solar power and other various technologies which are currently in the developmental and experimental stage. Solar energy works well for domestic electricity supply.

Wind Power

Employed for ages with remnants of its bygone past still evident in Northwestern Europe, the Wind Mill is making a come back. The best thing about the power of the wind is that it can never be depleted. It is natural, all around us and all we have to do is construct wind farms and then everything’s done. Economically utilizing the power of the wind makes sense. It literally has no maintenance and overhead costs.

Tropical countries use hydroelectricity as their source of power, using the waters gravitational force which comes from a high source. This is a great alternative for energy, it is a whole lot cheaper and it is environmentally safe because hydroelectric plants do not emit dangerous substances in the air nor the waters. It is pure nature. Fossil fuel driven power plants emit dangerous gases into the air while plants that are hydroelectrically driven are proven to emit a much lesser degree of greenhouse grass.

Nuclear Energy

Another source of alternative energy is nuclear energy. Nuclear energy together with other kinds of nuclear technology can harness energy. Nuclear reactors can generate steam energy by heating the water thus converting water into steam and then converting the steam into electricity. Nuclear energy are widely used in vessels and ships from all over the world.

Geothermal Power

Geothermal power is the heat that is being amassed down below from the earth’s surface. This is another way of making conventional power than that of fossil driven plants which is very much costly. This power is much feasible and also another environmental friendly alternative source of power driven by nature itself.

One big geothermal plant can power up to one whole urban community, supplying all the power it needs while a small geothermal plant can power up a small village and small buildings. One good thing about natural sources such as this one is that a geothermal power plant does not harm the air or the ozone layer because they do not emit poisonous gasses while in operation.

Using any of these alternative power sources can help us and the earth as well. It is cost effective and they are much less harmful to the earth. Using bio-fuel and using alternative power sources can be a way to save the earth and this is the future of our world.

One of the essential keys to successful money management, specifically saving money is to possess proper attitude.  Self-discipline is at the topmost of this proper attitudes list, of course.

Only with self-discipline that people recognize that they do have the freedom and power to do the right thing over doing as their impulses dictate.

Sounds complicated?  Well, not really.  Knowing fully the fantastic rewards of disciplined money in a disciplined person’s hands should be motivation enough for one to do all that is humanly possible to achieve that elusive financial stability everyone hopes for.

Here are some helpful money saving tips.

1.  Realize that the most convenient method of building one’s wealth is through saving money.  Money is the only sensible material to save.

2.  Focus expenditures on the things one needs.  Live day-by-day knowing that you have enough.

3.  Avoid buying on impulse. Take your time when buying, especially the expensive items.  If you really need it, it would most definitely not slip your mind.  Otherwise, if you go along forgetting all about it, then it isn’t really worth the money you have to spend on it at all.

4.  Credit card debts hold the number one slot as the cause for financial drains these days.  Control your spending by using your credit cards less.  Or for unavoidable circumstances when you really have to use the credit card, consider using the ones that charge less interest.  Then dump the high interest ones for good.
